Located in the heart of Brooklyn Bridge Park between Piers 4 and 5, ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina, the newest marina in New York City, is currently under construction with new docks being anchored and a state-of-the-art wave attenuation system now in place. Construction will be completed this fall, with a grand opening anticipated for spring 2016.  A joint venture between majority owner SUTL Group and Edgewater Resources, ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina offers water access to the local Brooklyn community, New Yorkers and boating enthusiasts from around the globe.

With the calmest waters in all of New York Harbor, thanks to its advanced technology and design, the marina will accommodate boats ranging from 16-feet to 250-feet for seasonal docking at facilities of the highest quality, a Sail Club and School and a members-only Harbor Club. Extensive input from local waterfront experts, residents and not-for-profit groups echoed the desire for public access, which became the most important design consideration. In fact, the marina will dedicate two percent of marina revenue toward exceptional community programming that will make boating and kayaking available to residents of all ages, abilities and incomes.

The new marina will be the first to be built in New York Harbor in the last 20 years. Partners SUTL Group, the Singapore-based owner and operator of the award-winning ONE°15 Marina Club Singapore, and Edgewater Resources, a leading marine design and engineering firm, were selected by Brooklyn Bridge Park in 2013 to develop and operate the marina because of their commitment to the park’s mission of making the waterfront more accessible to the public.

Arthur Tay, chairman of SUTL Group, is the visionary behind the ONE°15 Marina brand, and his expertise and experience earned ONE°15 Marina Club Singapore the title of Best Marina and Yacht Club in Asia (2009, 2012-2014).

“Boating and the water have long been passions of mine, and I recognized an opportunity in Singapore to bring the water and that lifestyle to a wider audience,” said Tay. “As we looked to expand the brand into international destinations, we identified the perfect opportunity in Brooklyn with the vibrant, lush public spaces of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Manhattan skyline backdrop and open water. Boaters and water enthusiasts from around the corner and around the world will feel at home at ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina.”

The marina’s community dock will be one of the largest docks in New York City, making up nearly 25 percent of the square footage of dock space at ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina once completed. The community dock will offer free and affordable community boating, as well as a world-class facility where these programs can thrive. Free and affordable boating experiences will be coordinated by the marina with its community partners, and a full program is in development.

“In New York City, we are surrounded by water yet there are so few opportunities to interact with the harbor,” said Regina Myer, president of Brooklyn Bridge Park. “This marina with its robust free and low cost programming, makes the waterfront accessible in new ways to even more New Yorkers and puts Brooklyn on the map for the global boating community.”

ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina brings state-of-the-art wave attenuation from a 5.2-meter wide Marinetek concrete breakwater to New York’s busy waterfront. Built with many environmental considerations in mind, the marina will use 40 percent translucent decking materials to support New York Harbor’s goal in reestablishing a habitat for prey fish. Set amidst the Brooklyn Bridge Park with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop, the marina is poised to attend to all guests’ needs with onsite amenities, concierge and top-notch security measures. One hundred-two slips/berths can accommodate boats from 16-feet to 250-feet in length.

The community dock will include:

  • A large fleet of superior, cutting-edge sailboats, owned and professionally maintained by the marina.
  • Small boat sailing programs in a protected basin for kids to learn to sail.
  • Spaces for kayaks and kayaking instruction, including a protected beginner basin.
  • Access to New York Harbor for existing community and nonprofit boating programs.

Through the marina’s nonprofit partners, local youth will have the opportunity to sail and kayak while exploring the rich history of New York Harbor and learning about nautical responsibility and teamwork. Partners include Brooklyn Boatworks, Brooklyn Kayak Guides, New York Harbor School and Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy.

Brooklyn Bridge Sail Club is the prime place for Brooklyn Bridge Park users and local residents who want to begin or continue to enjoy recreational sailing in New York Harbor. Sailing experts and beginners alike receive access to a fleet of professionally maintained, premiere racing and cruising vessels and unique programming designed by world-renowned sailing experts. A selection of seasonal membership options are available.

Brooklyn Bridge Sailing School gives everyone an opportunity to learn to sail or advance their skills. Various courses are offered through the Brooklyn Bridge Sailing School for club members, community members and the general public, including a basic introduction course with a cruise around the New York Harbor, a weekend course covering the fundamentals of sailing and a weekend course with an additional sailing session involving the Brooklyn Sail Club.
