SKETCHES OF COURT: Jury finds plaintiff fully responsible in car accident trial

Lucien claimed that he was driving his black sports car on Broadway at about 10 p.m. one evening in April 2013, and as he approached Willoughby Avenue, his car was impacted by a red Mercedes making a left turn from the oncoming lane of traffic. His front bumper was struck, his left headlight broke and the airbag deployed. Police were summoned to the scene.
Quyyym, represented by David Chustek (at right) of the law offices of James G. Bilello & Associates, alleged that he waited for traffic to clear before initiating the turn. An eyewitness who was driving behind the defendant testified that he related to responding police that he observed the plaintiff’s car pull out of a parking spot at the corner without engaging its headlights. Thomas challenged the testimony, citing no reference to unengaged headlights in the police accident report.
