Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 345th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1924, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Bandits Run Riot, Defy Cops in New Crime Outbreak.”

The article focused on a large string of burglaries and hold-ups prior to the holiday season, which kept the police quite busy.

“In the Prospect Park South section a porch climber got away with $4,000 worth of jewelry while the owner was giving a dinner dance in her home,” the Eagle reported. “… The thief escaped through a window and jumped from the porch to the ground.”
