Brooklyn BP Adams slams Kelly’s NYPD crime stat accusations
Adams: ‘New Yorkers have no reason to buy what he is selling’
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, a former NYPD officer, has jumped into the feud between former Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and current Commissioner William Bratton over the city’s crime rate.
Adams called Kelly’s recent insinuations that the NYPD manipulates CompStat statistics to make the city appear safer “offensive” and “spurious.”
“It is patently offensive for Ray Kelly to suggest that the NYPD is in any way involved with falsifying crime statistics. The fact that there is no proof to this spurious charge is fitting with his history of lobbing rhetorical bombs behind the shade of tabloid covers while falling silent under the scrutiny of truth,” Adams declared in a statement on Wednesday.
