NYPD: Freezing temps may have claimed man’s life in Coney Island

Authorities say freezing temperatures may have claimed the life of a man found dead on the Coney Island boardwalk.

Police identified the 77-year-old victim as Bai-Ping Wen.

According to the Wall Street Journal, investigators believe he died of hypothermia. The medical examiner will make the final determination.

Police say he was found unconscious at Stillwell Avenue around 7 a.m. Monday.

Temperatures Monday morning were in the single digits. Bitter cold was expected to continue until the end of the week.
