Regina Opera to present ‘Barber of Seville’

The Regina Opera Company plans to present Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” in Italian with English subtitles, in March at Our Lady of Perpetual Help auditorium, 5902 6th Ave. between 59th and 60th streets, Brooklyn.

Initially, there will be a free performance, with piano accompaniment, on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m.

Then, performances accompanied by a full orchestra will take place on Saturdays, March 7 and 14, and Sundays, March 8 and 15, at 3 p.m

For the ticketed performances, general admission will cost $25; seniors and college students will be admitted for $20; teens will be admitted for $5 and children will be admitted for free.

The opera tells the story of a clever young barber who outwits a pompous doctor in order to bring two young lovers together.

The free performance will feature David Tillistrand as Figaro, Perri Sussman as Rosina, Kyle Viverito as Count Almaviva, John Schenkel as Dr. Bartolo, Hector Mori as Basilo and Traci Djonne Schanke as Berta.

In the ticketed performances, the cast features Miloslav Antonov and David Williams as Figaro; Augusta Caso and Perri Sussman as Rosina; Aaron Blankfield and Sungwook Kim as Count Almaviva; Peter Ludwig and John Schenkel as Dr. Bartolo; and Jonathan Daugerman and Antoine J. Hodge as Basilio.

All performances will be conducted by Dmitri Glivinskiy and staged by Linda Lehr.
