Press allowed to sketch MI-5 agents
A Brooklyn federal judge has partially denied a petition by federal prosecutors to preclude members of the press from sketching particular witnesses during an ongoing terrorism trial.
United Kingdom secret service agents, from the intelligence agency popularly known as MI-5, are scheduled to testify at the trial of Abid Naseer, who is suspected of providing material support to al-Qaeda.
Judge Raymond Dearie delivered his ruling on the bench yesterday, allowing the press the ability to sketch the testifying secret agents. However, he conditioned his ruling by prohibiting the sketching of faces and requiring press artists to use generic hair in any sketches.
