“In order to formulate a final platform on which the boroughs can be united in the final conferences between the city committees and the directors committees of the traction companies, Borough President McAneny has called a meeting of the five borough presidents to be held at his house in Manhattan to-morrow night,” the Eagle reported. The Eastern Parkway modification was also to be discussed.

“THE ODD COUPLE” premiered on this day in 1965. Neil Simon’s classic play of mismatched roommates premiered at the Plymouth Theatre. The show inspired a popular movie adaption and hit TV series.
“SMALL MERCIES,” by Eddie Joyce, will be featured at BookCourt tonight at 7 p.m. The event will include a reading, audience Q&A and book signing. Joyce is a graduate of Harvard and currently lives in Brooklyn.

New York City’s most populous borough, Brooklyn, is home to nearly 2.6 million residents. If Brooklyn were an independent city it would be the fourth largest city in the United States. While Brooklyn has become the epitome of ‘cool and hip’ in recent years, for those that were born here, raised families here and improved communities over the years, Brooklyn has never been ‘uncool’.
