The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has announced the launch of the first-ever Open Venues BK Week.

The series — which will run from March 22 to 29 — will highlight 52 event spaces across the borough and give patrons an opportunity to tour the locations free of charge. The participating venues are ideal for a variety of events, including holiday, birthday and retirement parties, weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Quinceañeras, Sweet 16s and conferences, among others.

Normally, location tours must be reserved in advance and can accommodate only one prospective customer at a time. However, during Open Venues Week, event spaces will accept walk-ins on designated days and accommodate larger groups. Many participating venues will also host cocktail parties and food tastings to showcase the amenities they offer.

Interest in event spaces in Brooklyn has increased significantly in recent years — according to sponsor BizBash, “on a rolling 12 month average, there have been over 4,200 searches specifically for Brooklyn venues at BizBash search.”

Open Venues Week was created by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Explore Brooklyn — Brooklyn’s dedicated tourism initiative — and Brooklyn Based, the producer of the annual wedding fair, “Wedding Crashers.” A second Open Venues Week will also be held in October.

“There’s no better place in the world to have a birthday bash or a beautiful wedding than Brooklyn,” said Brooklyn Chamber President and CEO Carlo A. Scissura. “The demand for Brooklyn has never been higher, so this is the perfect time to open the doors of our hottest venues to people from across the Tri-State area. I want to thank Brooklyn Based and all 52 participating venues for helping to make this series possible, and I encourage everyone interested in having an event to tour these incredible spaces.”
