Thousands of New Yorkers are caught in what is being referred to as the “rap sheet trap,” uncorrected errors on records of arrests and prosecutions. The state is working to amend these mistakes but its failure to accurately update records have left many in limbo, hindered from applying for jobs or higher education.

Brooklyn Daily Eagle’s legal editor Charisma L. Troiano Esq. talked to Judith Whiting, General Counsel for Community Service Society; Lionel Oglesby, a legal assistant with Legal Action Center; and Assemblymember Daniel J. O’Donnell (D-Manhattan) to discuss this issue.
