“Maxim is an exceptional talent. When I watch him play, it appears as if his arms become an extension of the piano. His fingers meld with the keys becoming ‘one’ with the instrument. You don’t want to miss a chance to see and hear him in action,” said Rita Pihra-Majurinen, the artistic director of Art on the Corner.

A native of Moscow, Anikushin began his piano studies at age five. By the age of 11, he entered the prestigious Moscow Conservatory. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1991, he studied at the San Francisco Conservatory and completed his Bachelor and Masters Degrees at Juilliard on a full scholarship. He is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at the Manhattan School of Music.

Art on the Corner is a community-based arts ministry of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, where local, city-wide and international artists perform and have shared their art with the communities of southwest Brooklyn for the past nine years.
