A Brooklyn charter school specializing in Greek studies has been awarded a $150,000 grant from the charitable arm of a bank.

The Investors Foundation, which provides grant funding for not-for-profit organizations that are located in neighborhoods served by Investors Bank, presented the $150,000 grant to officials at the Hellenic Classical Charter School during a ceremony at the school on March 5.

The Hellenic Classical Charter School is located at 646 Fifth Ave. in Park Slope.

The grant will be given to the charter school in increments of $30,000 each year for the next five years and will be used to purchase 17 interactive Smart Boards and to upgrade the school’s technology network infrastructure, according to officials.

Principal Christina Tettonis spoke about the relationship the school has with Investors Bank and with the Investors Foundation.

“We are extremely grateful to Investors Bank for their generosity. We are especially thankful because they care about our students and are helping them become college and career ready. This grant will greatly benefit our students for years to come,” she said.

Joy Petrakos, the school’s director of finance and operations, said the grant will be put to good use.

“Our students will have access to upgraded technology and new smart boards in every classroom,” she said, adding that the school is grateful for the funding “and looks forward to continuing this relationship and sharing our students’ successes in the future.”

In discussing the grant, Investors Bank President and CEO Kevin Cummings said the bank is dedicated to serving students “by providing a setting where they can uncover and achieve their potential.”
