Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 91st day of the year.

ON THIS DAY in 1907, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Man Just Out of Jail Murders His Daughter.”

The article focused on a man fresh out of jail killing his daughter. Needless to say, he didn’t stay out of jail for long.

“Because she refused to give some money to him, Antonio Lancia, 47 years old, who had been released from jail, cut the throat of his daughter … at her home on Union Street,” the Eagle reported.

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS’ DAY. April Fools’ Day seems to have begun in France in 1564. April 1 used to be New Year’s Day, but the New Year was changed to Jan. 1 that year. People who insisted on celebrating the “old” New Year became known as April fools, and it became common to play jokes and tricks on them.
