Since at least 2011, the NYPD has had an official policy of monitoring and tracking individuals via social media, with some of these monitoring efforts even leading to arrests.

But when does what you say online become criminal? And do we, or rather should we, have an expectation of privacy in our online postings? Do the constitutional protections against unlawful government searches, and in favor of free speech, disappear on the web? On BK Live, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle‘s legal editor, Charisma L. Troiano, sat down with Professor Jonathan Askin of Brooklyn Law School and Lehigh University Professor James Peterson to break down this weighty and timely issue.
