BROOKLYN — BP, Advocates Rallied for Affordable Housing: Borough President Adams joined advocates — including Alliance for Tenant Power, Churches United for Fair Housing, Make the Road New York and New York Communities for Change — outside of Colony 1209 in Bushwick as they rallied for affordable housing in the community. He added to their call that the 421-a tax abatement is not working for the borough.

Hubble Space Telescope Celebrates 25th Anniversary on April 24: This image made by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope shows a tower of cold gas and dust rising from a stellar nursery called the Eagle Nebula. The soaring tower is 9.5 light-years high, about twice the distance from our Sun to the next nearest star. The Hubble Space Telescope marks its 25th anniversary. A full decade in the making, Hubble rocketed into orbit on April 24, 1990, aboard space shuttle Discovery.

NEPAL — Blind Women Participate in Self-Defense Course: In this April 13 photo, Sarita Lamichane 30, left, who is blind, participates with other blind women in a self-defense course in Kathmandu. The free self-defense course offered for blind women by Paritran, a local security agency is the first such initiative in the Himalayan nation. Women’s security has become a major issue in this nation over the past couple years, spillover from a deadly 2012 gang-rape on a New Delhi bus that was closely followed here.

LOWER MANHATTAN — One World Trade Tip Peeks Out from Fog: One World Trade Center stands in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday. The visitors center at the top of the 104-floor skyscraper, One World Observatory, is scheduled to open to the public on May 29.
