The article focused on four ex-inspectors on trial for conspiracy losing their fight.
“With handcuffs about their wrists, four former inspectors of police, ‘men higher up,’ marched from the grim Tombs prison today, shackled two and two, went up town by taxicab to the Appellate Division and returned to the Criminal Courts building in the same fashion,” the Eagle reported.

THE LOUISIANA PURCHASE took place on this day in 1803. One of the greatest real estate deals in history took place when the Louisiana Territory was turned over to the U.S. by France for $15 million.
GEORGE WASHINGTON was inaugurated as the first president of the United States on this day in 1789. The oath of office was administered on the balcony of Federal Hall in New York at the corner of Wall and Broad streets.

New York City’s most populous borough, Brooklyn, is home to nearly 2.6 million residents. If Brooklyn were an independent city it would be the fourth largest city in the United States. While Brooklyn has become the epitome of ‘cool and hip’ in recent years, for those that were born here, raised families here and improved communities over the years, Brooklyn has never been ‘uncool’.
