The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music’s (BCM) 2015 Spring Gala: Music Moves, held on Tuesday, April 21 at the Brooklyn Museum, raised $250,000 to support the Conservatory’s programming goals for 2015, according to a BCM spokesperson.

The funds raised at the gala will provide music education for 5,000 low-income students from BCM’s Music Partners Programs in 32 schools, Head Start program and senior centers; music therapy for 1,000 developmentally challenged students through the Conservatory’s Music Therapy Program in 28 schools, social service agencies and community organizations; and music lessons for nearly 1,000 students at BCM’s Park Slope location.

The gala celebrated the Music Therapy Program, which helps people with social, emotional and developmental challenges through music, and also honored members and supporters of the Conservatory. It featured a performance by jazz pianist and composer Randy Weston and swing dancing with music by the Excelsior Symphony.
