The Brooklyn Bar Association (BBA) hosted its annual Judiciary Night this past week. The well-attended event featured newly elected and appointed federal, state and city judiciary members, as well as the supervising and administrative judges of each court and bar leaders.

Judiciary Night at the Brooklyn Bar Association was again a fantastic success this year,” outgoing BBA President Rebecca Woodland told the Eagle in an email.

The event, held on April 1 in the Association’s center auditorium, was organized by Avery Okin, BBA executive director, and BBA immediate past President Andrew Fallek.

“The outpouring of support and participation by Brooklyn’s Judiciary is yet another indication of how the Brooklyn Bar Association has grown into one of the most important legal associations in the city,” Arthur Aidala, BBA president-elect, told the Eagle.

“Judiciary Night is always a great event. The new judges really appreciate being recognized by the bar, and the speakers are entertaining and funny,” Fallek said. “I especially enjoy the good-natured competition among the supervising judges about which court has the hardest working judges.”

Many supervising judges from the federal Eastern District of New York as well as from the Kings County Civil Court, Criminal Court and Supreme Court were in attendance.

“We were fortunate to have a record number of the judiciary present to meet and interact with members of the association in a night that was memorable,” said Woodland.

“I was proud to be president of an association that creates such a positive relationship between the bench and the bar. It is in this way that as attorneys we can best represent clients assuring that the standards of fairness and justice are always upheld.”
