Regina Opera to present free performance of ‘Carmen’

Regina Opera will present a free-admission performance of Bizet’s “Carmen” on May 12 at 7:30 p.m. The opera will be fully staged with piano accompaniment and English supertitles.

The performance will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help school auditorium, 5902 Sixth Avenue, Brooklyn.

Among the soloists are Jackie Hayes, who sings the role of Carmen; Lindell Carter who portrays Don Jose; Nathan Matticks as Escamillo; and Patricia Vital as Micaela.

Additionally, ticketed performances of “Carmen” will be presented on Saturdays May 16 and 23; and Sundays May 17 and 24 at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help auditorium.

On the May 16, 17, 23 and 24 performances, Augusta Caso and Lara Tillotson will play Carmen; Paolo Buffagni and Michael Morrow will play Don José; Alexander Charles Boyd and Nathan Matticks will play Escamillo; and Stacey Canterbury and Jessica Sandidge will play Micaela. Tickets are $25 for general admission; $20 for seniors/college students under 25; $5 for teens; and children can watch for free. Tickets are available at the door and online.
