Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 138th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY in 1915, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Gentleman Burglar Reproached by Girl, Slips Officer; Gone.”

The article focused on a “polite” burglar invading a house. “‘Spotless Town’ entertained a burglar today,” the Eagle reported. “He was a ‘gentleman burglar,’ and since it was ordained that he was to escape, after overturning a policeman, the neighborhood takes a crumb of consolation from the fact that he was a burglar of the gentlemanly kind.”
