City, state and federal officials say a New York City marine terminal is reopening as a shipping hub.

Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday led a group of elected officials to cheer the reactivation of the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal.

The 88-acre site was designated by the U.S. Department of Transportation as part of “America’s Marine Highway System.”

That designation makes the Sunset Park facility eligible for federal support.

De Blasio touted the site’s potential as a deepwater container port along with Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Nydia Velazquez, and Councilman Carlos Menchaca.

The mayor said transporting goods on ships will eliminate 275,000 truck trips in the city over the next five years.

The announcement comes after Menchaca and the administration reached a compromise for the facility’s oversight.
