Hundreds of girls and boys from ages 4 to 16 competed in the annual Dyker Heights Athletic Association (DHAA)/ St. Bernadette Knights’ “Race for the Cure” mini marathon on June 6. The race, which was organized through the community to raise funds for cancer research, is co-sponsored by Investors Bank. This year, the young runners helped raise funds for the Brooklyn-based Olivia Boccuzzi Foundation and Susan G. Komen organization. Contributions from the DHAA-St. Bernadette’s race will help fund research to discover the causes and cures for pediatric brain tumors cancer and breast cancer.
