ON THIS DAY IN 1903 the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Owls Head Park Passed.”

The article focused on local board members for Bay Ridge voting unanimously in favor of building a new park in the neighborhood.

“By the vote taken the formal recommendation is made to the Board of Estimate that the Bliss property at Bay Ridge, together with an adjoining strip, be purchased for a public park,” the Eagle reported.

“SWEENEY TODD: THE Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” is scheduled to be put on tonight at 8 p.m. at the Old Stone House’s Washington Park field on Fourth Avenue in Park Slope. The production is part of Park Slope’s Piper Theatre Production’s 10th free summer season outdoors. The play will also be shown July 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18.
