What inspired you to study law?

My father is an attorney so I always wanted to follow in his footsteps. I tagged along with him from when I was a young kid and always wanted to do what he did.

How did you decide upon your area of legal expertise?

Over the years my practice has developed into these areas of concentration.

What is it like to be a lawyer in Brooklyn?

Brooklyn is a great place to practice law — it has an excellent legal community including an immensely talented judiciary who do a wonderful job. Being a part of several bar associations makes the experience even better because you get to meet and associate with so many fabulous lawyers and judges. I have made some great friends by being active in bar associations and some of the more seasoned lawyers have been extremely generous to me with their time, wisdom and friendship.

What has been your proudest moment as an attorney?

I don’t have one case or one moment that sticks out above the rest. However, I take the most pride in helping people resolve a problem or conflict, counsel people through difficult times and obtain the relief that they need. Some of the most important matters that I have handled have been court appointed cases where I represented a minor or adult who was not competent and I was charged with “looking out” for their best interests when others may have been trying to hurt them. In addition, I have represented many families in Surrogate’s Court guardianship proceedings where they are attempting to become the guardian of their adult disabled children — that is some of the most important work that you can do.

What is one fact about you that people would find surprising?

That I am a big fan of the “Law and Order” series and that I regularly DVR episodes and watch them almost every night. It is ironic because I do not practice criminal law at all!

If you weren’t a lawyer what career would you pursue?

I love to be an attorney and I would not want to do anything else. However, if the Mets ever need an extra broadcaster on the radio, I would be available!
