DUMBO Family Fest to celebrate Brooklyn Bridge Park’s upcoming additions
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy is hosting the DUMBO Family Fest, previewing the new views and parkland to come to Brooklyn Bridge Park. The party, co-sponsored by One John Street, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 pm in the John Street and Main Street sections of the park.
The free event features family-friendly activities and games sponsored by the DUMBO Improvement District, Brooklyn Children’s Museum and the Izzy and Ooli Dream-a-long, an interactive puppet musical dance adventure. Brooklyn’s own Hungry March Band will be performing, and there will be delicious treats and giveaways — plus fun for your four-legged friends at the new Main Street dog run.
“[This] event is the first of many wonderful programs the Conservancy will bring to these spaces in the coming months. We look forward to their completion later this summer,” Regina Myer, president of Brooklyn Bridge Park, said in a statement.
Portions of the John Street and Main Street sections will be available to the public to enjoy during the fest. When complete, the John Street park section will include new waterfront parkland, including pedestrian bridges over a tidal salt marsh, tree-lined pathways and a 13,000-square-foot gathering lawn.
