Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 211th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1912, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Made No Effort to Arrest Gang, Hughes Admits.”

The article focused on a corrupt police department covering up for a fellow officer who was involved in a shooting.

“The startling statement [said] that [Inspector Hughes] and Second Deputy Commissioner Dougherty had known for a week the names of the men who did the actual shooting of the gambler, but that they had made no move to arrest these men,” the Eagle reported.
