Festival brings play back to NYC’s streets and fields July 17-18
Thousands of New Yorkers of all ages will play original street and live-action games in the streets of DUMBO and fields of Governors Island on July 17 and 18 when the Come Out & Play Festival (COAP) celebrates its 10th year.
The festival will bring night games to DUMBO and host a full day of field and family games on Governors Island, all free and open to the public. Bigger than ever, the festival will feature many of the games from the 10-year history of COAP, as well as new games from around the globe.
Going beyond classic street games like stick ball or kick the can, the COAP Festival showcases new types of games created by designers from around the world that make innovative use of public space, make people interact in new ways or alter people’s perceptions of their city and surroundings.
For the sixth year in a row, ESI Design, the New York City-based experience design firm, will be a lead partner in the festival, designing all the games specifically for families for the COAP family day on Governors Island.
