Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 236th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1924, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Mother Who Sold Her Baby Is Hysterical in Prison; Buyer Reads Bible in Cell.”

The article focused on two people jailed for selling and buying a human child for $50 cash.

“The mother, who 10 days ago placed the cash value of her child without apparent qualm, burst into hysterics in the jail last night when she was told that the Children’s Society would take the baby away from her this morning,” the Eagle reported.
