Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 245th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1907, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Boy Rolling Barrel When it Exploded.”

The article focused on a group of young boys trying to start fires in barrels and accidentally causing an explosion.

“The hoops were rent asunder and flew back like whips, lashing [the] associates about the body and legs,” the Eagle reported. “Neighbors of the lads in Greenfield did not extend much sympathy to the injured, as they claim they are members of a gang that delights in doing disorderly things.”
