Former Congressman Michael Grimm, who represented southwest Brooklyn and Staten Island, has reported to a prison in western Pennsylvania to begin his eight-month sentence for tax evasion.

Bureau of Prisons spokesman Ed Ross says the Republican arrived at the McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Lewis Run on Tuesday.

Ross tells the Staten Island Advance that Grimm has been assigned to a minimum-security section attached to the prison.

Grimm pleaded guilty late last year to aiding in the filing of a false tax return.
