Author to speak about new ‘Motown Sound’ book in Fort Greene

“Rhythm Ride” (Roaring Brook Press) is the story of the music that defined a generation and a movement that changed the world. Brooklyn-based writer Andrea Davis Pinkney has captured the celebration, controversy and ultimate success that encapsulated this pivotal era of “Motown Sound” in our country’s musical history.

The author will appear for a launch party at Greenlight Bookstore (686 Fulton St. in Fort Greene) on Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Some of Broadway’s finest talent — who will be entertaining throughout the event — along with some famous faces who are featured in the book will attend the celebration.

“Rhythm Ride” includes untold behind-the-scenes stories and photos that have never been published before.

Andrea Davis Pinkney is a New York Times bestselling author of more than 20 books for children, many of them illustrated by her husband Brian Pinkney. She lives with her family in Brooklyn.
