The Brooklyn Heart & Stroke Walk took place on Sept. 20 at Cadman Plaza Park. With 750 people attending the event, the walk raised more than $110,000 to help fight heart disease and stroke, America’s number one and number five killers. Seen at the starting line are former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz (grey Brooklyn shirt), a heart disease survivor; Mr. G (yellow jacket), meteorologist at WPIX-TV; Dr. Warren Wexelman (red shirt, next to Mr. G), director of clinical therapeutics at Maimonides Medical Center; and other survivors and participants of the Brooklyn Heart & Stroke Walk.
