Red Cross to install free smoke alarms in Bushwick
Residents can call to make an appointment
The American Red Cross will be in Bushwick on Saturday, Oct. 3, to install free smoke alarms.
The free installation is part of the organization’s new campaign to reduce deaths and injuries from home fires by as much as 25 percent over the next five years.
“In New York, we have set aggressive goals for smoke alarm installations and fire safety training,” Red Cross spokesperson Abigail Adams told the Brooklyn Eagle.
Bushwick is one of the organization’s busiest neighborhoods for local responses related to fires, Adams said. “We identified the top ten communities in Brooklyn for responses and Bushwick is in the top five.”
