On Sunday, Jan. 31, an all-star cast of stand-up comedians will be performing at the Bell House in Gowanus to benefit 826NYC, a nonprofit that offers free writing programs for New York City students. Hosted by Maeve Higgins, the event will feature Chris Gethard (“The Chris Gethard Show”), Seaton Smith (named by Vulture as one of the 50 comedians you should know in 2015), Naomi Ekperigin (writer for “Broad City”), Giulia Rozzi (VH1’s “Chelsea Lately”), Sean Donnelly and Katina Corrao.

For more than 11 years, 826NYC has been providing creative writing programming to under-resourced students throughout New York City. Based in the Secret Library behind the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. in Park Slope, 826NYC offers after-school writing and homework help, in-schools programming, workshops and field trips to more than 2,300 students each year. The Jan. 31 event, called Stand-Up for 826NYC, will bring together some of New York’s best and up-and-coming comedians, writers and storytellers to ensure that 826NYC can continue to bring its programs to students — totally free of charge — and their schools and families.

It will be the third annual comedy show to benefit 826NYC, and 100 percent of ticket sales will go toward funding 826NYC’s free writing and tutoring programs.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at thebellhouseny.com. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) at The Bell House (149 Seventh St.).
