Celebrating its 60th anniversary, the Brooklyn Philharmonia Chorus, the borough’s oldest community chorus, is looking for new singers for the spring 2016 concert.

The chorus is holding open auditions for all voice parts beginning Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., and also taking place on Tuesdays, Feb. 2, 9 and 16 at First Presbyterian Church, 124 Henry St. in Brooklyn Heights.

“We are singing selections of our ‘greatest hits’ and welcome anyone who has an interest in singing the Great Composers, and more, in joining us,” said Choral Director Doug March.

The chorus rehearses on Tuesdays from 7:30-10 p.m. (with a 15-minute refreshment break) at First Presbyterian, with easy access by subway — one block from Clark Street stop on 2, 3 trains and a few blocks from Borough Hall stop on 4, 5 and R trains.

The program for the spring 2016 concert will include selections from Haydn “Creation,” Brahms “Requiem” and a medley from the Broadway show “Brigadoon.”

“We are a volunteer, community-based, nonprofit group whose purpose is to perform great choral works. Our membership is representative of many different ethnic, racial and cultural groups and, indeed, reflects the great diversity of Brooklyn, as do the audiences attending our concerts,” said March. “The chorus offers singers the opportunity to perform musical compositions accompanied by class ‘A’ professional musicians and soloists at our concerts.”

The chorus also offers free tickets to middle school and high school students, and invites high school and college music students to join, March said.
