Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 27th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1898, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Struggle with a Burglar.”

The article focused on a barber who was attacked by a burglar in the back of his store.

“During the encounter, Fontana’s right hand was severely bitten by the intruder,” the Eagle reported. “[An officer] caught the burglar as he was leaving the house, after overcoming Fontana in the scuffle.”
