NYC Christmas tree recycling program begins Monday

New York City is beginning its annual Christmas trees recycling program on Monday.

The Department of Sanitation’s “Tree-cycling” initiative runs through Jan. 15.

Residents must remove all tree stands, tinsel, lights and ornaments from the trees before putting them out at curbside.

The trees will be chipped and reused as mulch in city’s parks, community gardens and institutions.
