Food Network favorite Guy Fieri, host of the popular television series “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” was at The BookMark Shoppe in Bay Ridge on Tuesday to promote his new book “Guy Fieri’s Family Food.” The popular author and game show host happily greeted fans who waited on line to get their books autographed.

Known for his warm, congenial personality, Fieri has introduced audiences to some of the most delightful casual eateries from coast to coast.

Fieri’s first television series was “Guy’s Big Bite” in 2006. One year later, he debuted his next series “Diner’s, Drive-Ins and Dives.” That show made Fieri a star and led to other series he hosted or co-hosted, including “Ultimate Recipe Showdown” and “Guy Off the Hook.”

In 2009, Fieri hosted the game show “Minute to Win it,” which aired for two seasons. In 2012, Fieri appeared with Rachael Ray on “Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off,” and in 2013 he hosted “Guy’s Grocery Games.” He also owns a chain of popular restaurants, including Guy’s American Kitchen and Bar in Manhattan.

Fieri has co-authored four books with Ann Volkwein: “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives: An American Road Trip…with Recipes!,” “More Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives: Another Drop-Top Culinary Cruise Through America’s Finest and Funkiest,” “Guy Fieri Food: Cookin’ It, Livin’ It, Lovin’ It” and “Diners, Drive-Ins and “Dives: The Funky Finds in Flavortown: America’s Classic Joints and Killer Comfort Food.”  He also wrote “Guy on Fire: 130 Recipes for Adventures in Outdoor Cooking.”

His new book, “Guy Fieri Family Food,” was written with Marah Stets. In it, Fieri presents a number of fresh recipes and colorful photos, blending his flair for fun writing with a family meal plan filled with some of his best-loved recipes.

The line of fans waiting for Fieri to autograph books ran half-way around the block. Fieri personally greeted his fans and posed for photos.

This was Fieri’s second visit to The BookMark Shoppe. He thanked owner Christine Freglette and complimented her staff for their great work. He admitted how much he liked coming to mom-and-pop shops because they “pack it in.” He called the neighborhood “such a cool place to hang,” and added that it has “great stores and just a great community.”

When a fan asked him if he had had any great pizza yet, Fieri said, “Not yet, but hopefully soon at Di Fara,” referring to a renowned pizzeria in Midwood.

One fan greeted him with his signature line “Welcome to Flavortown!” Fieri laughed as the young man took an unplanned selfie with him. Fieri jokingly responded, “You just broke the rules; I have to revoke your passport to Flavor Town.”

Another fan came prepared for the event with his own Guy Fieri hairpiece. Fieri loved it and even autographed it for the young man.

Another acclaimed chef, Mario Batali, will visit The BookMark Shoppe at noon on Sunday, Oct. 16.
