The St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) recently hosted an art auction featuring some world-class artwork, memorabilia and collectables. From paintings by Norman Rockwell, Marc Chagall and Andrew Wyeth to rare photo prints of Bob Dylan, the Marlin Arts-sponsored event showcased art in all media and price ranges.

The auction was designed as a fundraiser for the church, which received 10 percent of all profits from the sold artworks. PTO Chairs Denise Alexander and Angela Athineos organized the event, which included hors d’oeuvres, dessert, coffee and a cash bar.

The evening’s guest artist was John Stanisci, a professional illustrator for Marvel and DC Comics for more than 18 years. Stanisci has worked on characters such as Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, Batman, Catwoman and Superman and, most recently, on “Batman Beyond.” The trade paperback edition of “Batman Beyond” premiered at No. 1 on The New York Times bestseller list for graphic novels.

He signed and personally inscribed all of his auctioned art work.
