Adelphi students help Santa at Little North Pole
Charity event raises funds for Juvenile Diabetes research
It has been a busy holiday season for students and teachers at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn, including a recent trip to the Rockaways to help the organizer of a charity event set up a replica of the North Pole.
Students and staff from Adelphi spent an afternoon at the Neponsit Beach, Queens home of lawyer Joseph Mure Jr. to set up his Little North Pole event, a family-oriented happening that took place on Dec. 4. The annual holiday extravaganza is held to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and features musical performances and appearances by celebrities.
As part of the setup process, Adelphi volunteers unloaded hundreds of life-size decorations and assisted in placing them around Mure’s property. Adelphi Art Instructor Nikki Fregara also led art students in designing, building and hand-painting giant larger-than-life dreidels.
