Organizations in both the public and private sector go out of their way to provide gifts and holiday cheer to the less fortunate, especially when they’re children who suffer catastrophic illnesses or developmental disabilities. But when some of these children grow up and still need the care and support of facilities like The League Center’s Adult Day programs, much of that childlike pulchritude has faded. Benefactors look elsewhere for their Yuletide publicity shots and stories.

Thus it was particularly welcome when a Google programmatic accounts strategy team chose members of The League Center’s adult day program to visit for a holiday season party and gift exchange. “Exchange,” in fact, was particularly apt in this instance, because Adult Program members had a gift of their own — they staged a carefully rehearsed talent show to entertain the Google team, with acts that included karaoke, dance and comedy.

As they had with the kids in the Joan Fenichel Therapeutic Nursery program, Norman and Elaine Brodsky stepped up again to fund gifts for the adult members.

“They wanted to do something nice,” Elaine Brodsky said, recalling when the Google team had approached her the year before. “And I recommended here. They looked into it, and they decided it was the right place for their efforts.”
