Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 53rd day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1920, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Runaway Car Hits Another on Bridge; 10 Hurt, One Dying.”

The article focused on trolleys colliding on the Brooklyn Bridge due to ice covered rails.

“The crash created great excitement, and Police Sgt. Devlin and five patrolmen were rushed to the scene to preserve order,” the Eagle reported. “The collision did not tie up traffic, as the cars were inside the loop which leads into the Manhattan terminal of the bridge.”
