Art is long, and Time is fleeting. So goes the famous Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem.

In this case, though, the art came and went in a flash.

Sculptures made of bits of an old bicycle and other found objects appeared, to the surprise of passersby on Jay Street Saturday, in the vast black-topped DUMBO space known as Bridge Park II.

These pieces by Brian Fernandes-Halloran were on display just for the afternoon in a stealth exhibition the Brooklyn artist organized, which included works by other artists as well.

“It’s a bit of an experiment,” Fernandes-Halloran said of the brief but intriguing al fresco show.

The artist — whose work has been shown at the New Museum on the Bowery and at the Fridman Gallery in SoHo — said he didn’t seek city permission to use the DUMBO Parks Department venue and didn’t advertise the exhibit. The only advance word he sent out about it was in the form of an email blast to the artists’ supporters.

A painter, Johanna Tiedtke, created an artwork at the exhibit. She attached a rectangle of transparent silk to a concrete park wall with bubble gum and sketched with graphite, picking up the wall’s texture. It looked a little bit like she was doing a tombstone rubbing, with cement instead of a grave marker.
