March 25, birthdays for Elton John, Sarah Jessica Parker, Aretha Franklin
Brooklyn Today
Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 85th day of the year.
ON THIS DAY IN 1903, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Found $80 in Her Stocking.”
The article focused on a man and a woman who were arrested in Brooklyn for intoxication.
“The two were arrested at the Hotel St. Mark … where they were having a row over the payment of a bottle of wine,” the Eagle reported. “One of [the woman’s] shoes looked as if it were of an abnormal size and as the owner of the shoes stooped to tie the strings of one of them, [the responding police officer] saw a big roll of bills and confiscated it.”
