Another one bites the dust.

The upscale American clothing and accessories retailer Banana Republic closed its doors on Montague Street early Wednesday morning.

The store, which was located at 133 Montague St., experienced the same fate as a cluster of other businesses that have been forced to shutter due to the rising rents in Brooklyn Heights.

The Brooklyn Eagle published an article last week listing the many vacant shops that line the throughway and spoke with Montague merchants on how the street has changed.

At that time, the Eagle released the following chart, listing all of the vacant, “For Lease” and “For Rent” properties on the four-block street.

Banana Republic is the latest to join the above group.

The store, which did not advertise its closing publicly, simply closed up shop over night; by Wednesday morning a sign was posted on the door that reads: “This store closed its doors, but lots of other doors are open!”
