On Saturday, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy hosted its first event of the 2016 programming season, the DUMBO Family Festival. This was the first of more than 500 free spring and summer programs at Brooklyn Bridge Park over the next five months. This fun-filled party, sponsored by One John Street, took place in the John Street and Main Street sections of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Attendees danced, played, and spent the day enjoying free family-friendly games, activities, and amenities. New to the DUMBO Family Festival this year was a 20-foot long wooden replica of the Brooklyn Bridge. The sandstone color painted lattice façade was woven with ivy and participants planted white carnations on the deck and towers of the bridge.

Visitors scaled the DUMBO Boulders, dogs participated in the Dog Olympics, families dove deep into Park ecology and history at the new Environmental Education Center, performers Mil’s Trills and Moona Luna had the crowd singing and dancing, classic games were played on new lawns under the Manhattan Bridge with DUMBO Recess, and kids got glitter tattoos at the Half Pint Citizens’ tent.
