OASIS Christian Singles, considered the largest Christ-centered Christian singles event in Brooklyn, will host its spring celebration this weekend at its new location in Dyker Heights. The dinner, on Saturday, May 21, is themed “Single Living in a Challenging World.” It will offer the chance for Christian singles of all ages, from all walks of life and from all denominations from throughout the tristate area to join together.

OASIS Director Cindy Galdal-Ruperto told the Brooklyn Eagle, “Mostly, singles will go to events in their church, and they know everyone in the church already. And I had a desire to bring people together from different denominations, different walks of life and throughout the tristate area.

“Singles often have [the] feeling that they’re the only single left — that everyone is married but them,” Galdal-Ruperto continued. “It’s such a lie. It’s so powerful to be in a room filled with other singles. It’s very liberating to have that opportunity to come together with like-minded people with shared values. It’s very important.”

OASIS ministers to singles ages 21 and older. Many have never been married, while some are widowed or divorced, sometimes even at a relatively young age.

Galdal-Ruperto emphasized the importance of looking to OASIS for prayer partners. “That’s a wonderful way to have fellowship with someone on a regular basis — once a week, twice a month.”

The evening’s main emphasis is on connecting with God and one another.

The evening will include an interactive Q&A period; time for praise and worship, with soloist Deborah Antignano providing special music; and additional time for fellowship during dessert.

The Singles Spring Celebration will be held at Lefferts Park Baptist Church (7524 14th Ave., at the corner of 76th Street). Supper begins promptly at 6 p.m., and the program begins at 7 p.m.
