Bishop and author Joseph Walker brings ‘RESET’ ministry to Brooklyn
Bishop Joseph Warren Walker III, senior pastor of one of the largest African-American mega-churches in the country as well as a prolific author and civic leader, believes that everyone has the capacity to let go of old, detrimental habits and “reset” by establishing new ones. Inspired to share his RESET philosophy beyond his growing congregation, he is bringing his teachings to Brooklyn on May 3, when he will visit Mount Ararat Baptist Church.
Walker, who is a pastor, bishop, author and civic leader, will share “Eight Ways to Reclaim Your Relationship with God in RESET Your Life: Make a New Start.” RESET encourages people to look to the Word for examples of shedding detrimental habits and establishing new ones. He has captured this philosophy in his latest book, “RESET Your Life: Make a New Start.”
Walker understands the potential of RESET in the life of his own family, ministry and city. He has been instrumental in efforts to bring Nashville’s civic, law enforcement and minority leaders together to resolve conflicts that have torn other cities apart in the wake of Michael Brown’s killing in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014. In addition, he has already made the tenets of RESET a vital part of his ministry, working with his wife Stephaine Walker, MD, to found ChurchFIT, an unprecedented free wellness program that takes a comprehensive approach to improving the physical, mental and spiritual health of its members.
Walker is senior pastor at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee; and presiding bishop of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, International. He holds a B.A. from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a M.Div. from Vanderbilt University; and a D.Min. from Princeton Theological Seminary. He has also received two honorary doctorates.
