“Something Rotten” turned into something wonderful for Bay Ridge resident Marialana Ardolino after she and a friend took in a recent matinee performance of a Broadway show.

Ardolino, network administrator for MSI Net. Inc., in Bay Ridge, saw the smash-hit musical comedy “Something Rotten!” and enjoyed Christian Borle’s performance as William Shakespeare so much, she decided to wait by the stage door at the St. James Theater to tell him how much she loved both him and the show.

Borle, who won a Tony Award in 2015 for his work in “Something Rotten!” was gracious and kind to fans, Ardolino said. Borle agreed to pose for a selfie with Ardolino. Ardolino, an avid Broadway fan, has also served as a stage manager for several Brooklyn theater companies. “Something Rotten!” is a show that imagines the creation of the very first musical.
