Bishop Kearney HS names new director of alumnae
Bishop Kearney High School has a new director of alumnae relations. Catherine McCarthy Schmidt, a 1974 graduate of the Catholic school for girls, has been named to the post. School officials announced the news on May 26.
As alumnae director, McCarthy Schmidt will serve as the school’s chief ambassador to the more than 15,000 Bishop Kearney alumnae. Part of her job will entail working toward strengthening the bonds between the graduates and their alma mater through special events and proactive communications, school officials said.
McCarthy Schmidt succeeds Sister Virginia Lake, who served as director of alumnae relations for many years while simultaneously working in the school’s development office. She also taught math for many years at Bishop Kearney.
Lake will continue to serve in the development office.
